Every Private Investigator should have a jump bag in their vehicle.

Taking the time to set-up a small, inexpensive bag with essential items and placing one in your car, office and home is a great preparation idea that is inexpensive and will help you in emergency situations. Use any bag that can hold  essential items you might need in an emergency situation. You never know when a case might take a different direction.

So what do you include in your bag?

  1. Change of clothes - Good place to store some old clothes in the event you need to change.
  2. Small first aid kit - you can buy pre-made kits or create your own w/bandages, aspirin, etc.
  3. Extra prescription glasses if you wear them - when you get new glasses, toss the old ones in.
  4. Toiletries you might need on an overnight trip, e.g. deodorant, toothpaste and brush, etc.
  5. Extra batteries - always a good idea to carry extra batteries so you change out when needed.
  6. Back-up power pack for your cell phone and/or computer - there are inexpensive power packs you can use to re-charge your cell phone or tablet when on the run.
  7. Bottled water, some snack bars, other non-perishable food items.
  8. Some essential paper items - toilet paper, paper towels, some moist towelettes in a package.
  9. Portable hand-warmers depending on your climate.
  10. Other back-up essential items - A jump bag is a good place to put your old cameras, binoculars, and other items that you may have upgraded.

Having a small bag in your car with these essential items will prepare you for any loss of essential equipment, a sudden schedule change during surveillance or if you have to make a quick overnight trip unexpectedly.
